A Living History of the LGBT Movement

Role: Art and Animation Director

Production: rezonate.tv

Client: AARP + Next Day Better

As a Human Rights advocate

As the creative lead and director on this project, I was enthusiastic to on-board a collaborative crew who believe in the cause as much as I do to craft a beautiful and truthful piece together. As the story is rooted in history, we saw this as an opportunity to pay homage to our heroes and to shine a light on the triumphs, however little it may have been to arrive to where we are today.

I felt I had the responsibility as a queer person myself to give justice to this piece.

I wanted to be intentional in transforming a darker side of this history to bring warmth, empathy, and inspiration instead of dwelling in its darkness. A movement that is rooted in love instead of rage. I had the liberty to fuse my vision of the use of fluid lines and forms to represent the fluidity of gender that has grit, which is inspired by protest art using bold typography and textures as the story unfolds and slowly reveal its true colors.

History of Pride Since The 1800s

A piece co-directed with rezonate for AARP and Next Day Better about the history of the LGBT Movement. The piece highlights significant events and figures who have contributed in making strides in the community throughout the years.

This project won Gold under the Visual Effects/Video Graphics Category at the 2019 Adobo Design Awards in Manila as well as Silver Award under Typography (Applied Typography) Category. It was also exhibited at the LOOK HERE: Women In Graphic Design Exhibit in 2018.
