The scene in my illustration conveys a sense of ambiguity. The main character’s form is intentionally fluid and undefined, leaving us unsure whether they are about to cross the street or waiting for something unseen. Are they on their way home, or leaving it behind?
The scene draws from a nostalgic memory of my early career in Makati City. I used to pass that familiar crossing near Don Bosco, Makati Cinema Square, and The Columns Legazpi — a place filled with moments of youth, bruised knees, late nights, and quiet ambition. It symbolizes a time of chasing dreams and finding myself, which is what “‘Di Na Babalik” means to me.
Thankfully, Leanne and Naara connected with that story too.
