“Not Lost” touches on the feelings of being in an unknown place, but in a way that’s not totally hopeless. I imagined it to be a person who had just come out of a dark place exploring a world that seems so scary and unfamiliar but a little more beautiful than where they used to be.
Whether our past is beautiful or painful, the song sits in that bittersweet ambiguity. On one hand you have all the lessons and happy memories but they also come with the different struggles and challenges we faced. And all of that becomes a part of us.

My initial idea was a silhouette of a person walking towards an unknown world with an upside-down image below the horizon line they are stepping on. The silhouette in the mirrored image is stuck and standing still in a pool of darkness that represent a gate to a completely opposite world. So when you flip the image, you are sort of choosing your narrative whether you choose to dwell on your sorrows or keep moving on.
In the final style frame, I also added floating lanterns which represent as guides towards the mountain peeking in the distance covered in clouds.
Animation
Throughout the animation process, I mostly worked on the iPad with Procreate and Procreate Dreams. I went this route because I wanted to animate the textures I layered-in in the character when it moves.
I just did a couple of tweaks on Davinci Resolve for some compositing, titles, lyrics and dimension versions.
